Country Health is a not-for-profit, community-owned facility built in the late 1960's in the small, rural, farming community of Gifford in Champaign County . We are an 89-bed skilled facility run by a Board of Directors and managed by Heritage Enterprises.

"We are now taking care of second generations," says Administrator Carol Ruthenberg. "We feel that our loving, dedicated care provided by our long-standing staff is the primary reason families stay with us. Some of our staff has been with us for nearly 20 years. In our discharge surveys, many families praised our quality of care and compassion, especially with our terminal care residents."

Some of our amenities include: a beautiful stained-glass chapel that is used for daily devotions, which include Catholic and Lutheran services, a welcoming fenced-in courtyard, an active auxiliary of patrons and volunteers, and transportation for recreational outings. We also have a large activity room equipped with an oven and stove for residents to use. The therapy department also uses this space for working with individuals whose goals are to return home.

Part of our success includes maintaining an "open door" policy for our residents and their families. We believe that families are an integral part of a resident's care plan.
