Unlike many other nursing facilities, Heritage Enterprises owns and operates our own pharmacy - Green Tree Pharmacy. Pharmacists, doctors, and staff work together to provide residents with accurate medication necessary for their well being. This is accomplished through a well-developed system that includes:

Consulting

The Green Tree team works closely with doctors and nurses to ensure all residents are receiving the medication that is right for them.

Following state regulations, a consultant pharmacist reviews residents' medication records at least once a month.

After medications are reviewed, pharmacists make recommendations and provide information to doctors, nurses, therapists, and dieticians.

Green Tree Pharmacy has a special communication plan to keep nurses informed about medication interactions and side effects, drug allergies, proper administration of medicine, and appropriateness of medication and dosage with regard to diagnosis.

Green Tree Pharmacy utilizes a state-of-the-art drug information software program, Clinical Pharmacology Gold Standard, to provide information and promote optimal drug therapy for our residents.

Electronic order entry is scheduled to be implemented in 2007.

Monitoring

Whether it is prescription or over-the-counter medication, a registered pharmacist reviews all medications any time a change is made to residents' drug therapy. This monitoring system is just one way our pharmacists prevent harmful drug interactions.

Medication Packaging/Delivery

The Green Tree packaging and delivery system ensures medication is readily available and easy to administer.

With the high volume of medicines given at nursing facilities, it is important for medications to be packaged in a way that makes it easy to administer the correct dose at the correct time.

Accounting/Insurance

Green Tree accounting personnel work to process, submit, and resubmit claims in an efficient and accurate manner. Our team makes certain residents are receiving the best possible coverage. We honor all Medicare Part D plans in Illinois
